Who we are
Martin Wanye, trading as Scrap Cove (“we”) is responsible for the information collected through this website. We are based in the United Kingdom and have a branch in the United States. Address: Onich, Fort William, Highland, PH33 6SE, United Kingdom. Contact: sale@scrapcoveltd.com.
What we collect
- Quote requests: your name, business email, phone (optional), company name and country, destination city, the grade and quantity you want, your message, and any documents you upload.
- Security data: a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser type, used to prevent abuse and spam. We do not store your raw IP address with your request.
- Emails: the messages we exchange with you.
- Analytics: only if you accept analytics cookies. Without your consent no analytics code runs.
How we use it, and why
- To answer your request, verify your business, carry out the export, import and sanctions checks that apply to a shipment, and prepare a quotation. This is needed to take steps at your request before a contract, and for our legitimate interest in dealing only with verified buyers.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interests).
- To keep the records that tax, accounting and export-control rules require (legal obligation).
- To measure how the site is used, if you agree (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
Only with service providers that help us run the business, and with carriers, customs brokers and public authorities where a shipment requires it. Our providers include Fly.io (hosting), Supabase (database and private file storage), Brevo (sending email), Proton (our mailbox) and Cloudflare (DNS and the bot check on the quote form). Uploaded documents are stored privately and are never published or attached to emails.
International transfers
We supply buyers worldwide and operate in the United Kingdom and the United States, so your information may be processed in both countries and, for a shipment, in the destination country. We apply safeguards suited to each transfer, such as contractual protections with our providers.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and related records for as long as needed to deal with your request and our business with you, and for as long as tax, accounting and export-control rules require, which can be several years. We then delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy of it, under laws such as the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. To use these rights, contact us at sale@scrapcoveltd.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority, for example the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
Staff access is protected by two-factor authentication, uploaded files are stored privately, and connections to this site are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send us anything you do not need to.
